The Spice Towers.

These sculptures were designed custom for Hunter Restaurant in NY. The cuisine is Modern French Mediterranean fusion which tends to use spices like cardamom, ginger, tarragon, cloves, coriander, cumin, dill, fennel, garlic, lavender, marjoram, mint, oregano, parsley, paprika, rosemary, saffron, sage, savory, etc… I had chosen the first three as my inspiration. I have done series of these sculptures for years and this is the most recent version.

These sculptures include solar lights that turn on right as the sun is setting. This way, it creates ambiance and provides its own light as people dine around it. The sculptures require no maintenance - simply like an unattended garden - you may let it age without interference and it will always look beautiful. The bright colors were selected specifically to compliment the interior architecture of the restaurant as well as the materials used.

Restaurant architecture by Bentel and Bentel Architects: As you walk into the restaurant, there is a stunning marble bar ahead that includes blues, oranges and tans. Right behind are delicate bronze modern pendant chandeliers that are punctured to create a pattern illuminated from the inside, like floating orbs. In the main dining room, pure white ceramic pendants hang just above your head like a field of doves that just took off at the same time. You can find bronze trim hidden in the detailing everywhere flickering as you walk around the space. Passing through to the outdoor dining areas, you are stopped by bright colors that are a vibrant version of the interior spaces. Seemingly glowing, the patterns remind you of food, of a menu, of a location. You may sit down now and let the tour continue to your taste buds.
