“Galileo” is an open-air street pavilion designed by Micha for Terroir Wine Bar. It is made of movable louvers that promote airflow and direct your view to the beautiful urban surroundings, sky, and stars—hence the name.

The pavilion takes up two parking spots in front of the TriBeCa wine bar. The louvers allow for a totally safe and operable environment, different from the many open-air street pavilions that are actually enclosed “plastic” environments. The louvers are playful, offering glimpses of the “wine” mural from the inside, and from the outside, a peek into the wine-red interior. 

The design is completely modular and reusable, meant to be assembled and then disassembled for storage as needed. The structural connecting system of the pavilion was made from standardized parts to prevent waste. The “wine” mural was curated by Micha and was painted on the outside louvers of Galileo to reflect the wine consumed in the TriBeCa environment— playing with the term “Terroir.” It was conceived of with Terroir's long-time neighborhood patrons in mind. It allows them to come back together in a safe and liberating space for the comfortable and inspired enjoyment of Terroir's incredible selection of wines.
